Nvidia Unveils DLSS 4.5 With 6x Frame Generation and Sharper Visuals
At CES 2026, Nvidia has taken another confident step forward in real time graphics, announcing DLSS 4.5, the latest evolution of its Deep Learning Super Sampling technology. The update brings meaningful image quality improvements for all RTX users and introduces an ambitious new 6x Multi Frame Generation mode aimed at ultra high refresh rate gaming on next generation hardware.
The company confirmed that the new DLSS 4.5 model is rolling out immediately to every GeForce RTX owner, while the most advanced frame generation features are reserved for the latest RTX 50 series graphics cards, with a wider release planned later this year.
A Smarter DLSS Model for Every RTX User
DLSS 4.5 is built around Nvidia’s second generation Super Resolution transformer model, a significant upgrade over the system introduced with DLSS 4. According to Nvidia, the new model is its most advanced yet, using five times more compute power than the original transformer architecture and training on a far larger high fidelity dataset.
This expanded training allows DLSS 4.5 to better understand in game scenes and motion. Nvidia says the model now works more closely with game engine data, improving lighting accuracy, edge clarity, and motion stability. The result is cleaner images with fewer visual distractions, particularly during fast movement.
In demonstrations shared with media, Nvidia highlighted several real world improvements. Ghosting artifacts are reduced in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered. Anti aliasing appears noticeably cleaner in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Shimmering on fine details is minimized in Kingdom Come Deliverance II. These gains are achieved without sacrificing performance, a core promise of DLSS since its introduction.
Crucially, these visual upgrades are not limited to new hardware. Nvidia confirmed that the DLSS 4.5 model and its image quality improvements are available today across all RTX graphics cards, from earlier generations to the latest releases. Performance will scale with hardware capability, but the core benefits apply to the entire RTX ecosystem.
Introducing 6x Multi Frame Generation
While DLSS 4.5 improves visuals for everyone, Nvidia’s most headline grabbing announcement is a new 6x Multi Frame Generation mode designed specifically for RTX 50 series GPUs. This feature pushes frame generation further than ever before, using artificial intelligence to generate up to five additional frames for every single traditionally rendered frame.
Previous versions of DLSS supported up to three generated frames per rendered frame. The new 6x mode dramatically increases that multiplier, targeting smooth 4K gameplay on 240Hz displays. Nvidia positions this feature as a solution for maintaining extreme frame rates during demanding scenes, where even powerful GPUs can struggle to keep up.
The technology is built on Nvidia’s latest Tensor Cores, which deliver faster and more advanced AI processing. By relying on these improvements, the system can generate frames with lower latency and better consistency than earlier implementations.
Tactical confusion and public doubt
Perhaps the most corrosive aspect of Amorim’s tenure was the growing sense of confusion among players. Pundits repeatedly highlighted a lack of understanding within the team, particularly in defensive transitions. Errors were not isolated incidents but recurring themes, suggesting systemic problems rather than individual lapses.
At Brentford, United’s defensive disorganisation was ruthlessly exposed in a 3 1 defeat, with analysts pointing to positional uncertainty caused by the system. Similar issues resurfaced during a run of three consecutive league defeats without scoring, a sequence that left United hovering dangerously close to the bottom half of the table.
The situation reached a surreal point when Amorim openly acknowledged that relegation was a possibility. For a club of United’s stature, such an admission was unprecedented and deeply unsettling. While intended as a wake up call, it instead underscored the erosion of confidence surrounding the project.
Dynamic Frame Generation for Real World Gaming
Alongside the 6x option, Nvidia is also introducing Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. Rather than locking players into a single multiplier, this mode intelligently adjusts the number of generated frames in real time.
When a game scene becomes graphically intense, the system automatically increases frame generation to smooth out performance dips and preserve the feel of a high refresh rate display. As the workload eases, it scales back the multiplier to avoid unnecessary computation. Nvidia says this adaptive approach ensures consistent smoothness without wasting resources or compromising visual stability.
This dynamic system reflects a more mature philosophy around frame generation, one that prioritizes balance rather than raw numbers. It is designed to operate invisibly in the background, responding to changing conditions without user intervention.
Availability Across Hundreds of Games
Nvidia confirmed that DLSS 4.5 support extends to more than 400 games and applications through the Nvidia app. RTX owners can enable the new model even in titles that have not yet been explicitly updated by developers, ensuring rapid adoption across the PC gaming landscape.
The company stated that the core DLSS 4.5 improvements are available immediately, while the advanced 6x Multi Frame Generation and Dynamic Frame Generation features are planned for release in spring 2026, exclusively for RTX 50 series owners. Nvidia has not provided a more precise launch date but emphasized that development is focused on stability and quality.
A Clear Signal of Nvidia’s Direction
With DLSS 4.5, Nvidia is reinforcing its long term strategy of combining traditional rendering with increasingly sophisticated AI assistance. Rather than relying solely on brute force hardware gains, the company continues to invest in software models that extract more performance and better visuals from each generation of GPUs.
The emphasis on cleaner image quality, reduced artifacts, and adaptive performance suggests Nvidia is responding closely to feedback from players and developers alike. At the same time, the introduction of 6x frame generation underscores the company’s confidence in AI driven rendering as a cornerstone of future gaming.
As high refresh rate monitors and 4K displays become more common, technologies like DLSS 4.5 are positioned to play a central role in delivering smooth, visually rich experiences without demanding unrealistic hardware upgrades.
For RTX owners, the immediate rollout of the new DLSS model is a welcome upgrade at no additional cost. For those eyeing Nvidia’s latest GPUs, the promise of extreme frame rates paired with smarter AI processing offers a glimpse of where PC gaming is headed next.
