Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 18 and lower priced iPhone 18e are said to use a customized M12+ OLED panel. This version is believed to be based on Samsung’s older M12 display architecture, which has previously appeared in devices such as the iPhone 14 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

While M12+ may bring modest improvements in brightness and power efficiency, it is still considered behind newer M13, M14 and upcoming M16 materials in overall display performance.

The concern becomes stronger when compared with Apple’s current lineup. Reports indicate the full iPhone 17 family already uses M14 OLED material, including the regular model.
