OnePlus Nord CE 6 smartphone launching in India on May 7 with 144Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset and 8,000mAh battery

OnePlus is preparing to strengthen its mid range smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Nord CE 6 series on May 7. The company has confirmed that the OnePlus Nord CE 6 will debut alongside the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite, bringing upgraded displays, larger batteries, faster charging and new AI powered features to the Nord portfolio.

Ahead of the official announcement, several core specifications and design details have already been revealed, giving buyers a clear look at what to expect. The upcoming devices are aimed at users seeking premium features without stepping into flagship pricing.

India launch date, sale details and expected pricing

The OnePlus Nord CE 6 is scheduled to launch in India on May 7 at 12 PM IST. After launch, the smartphone is expected to be available through Amazon and other official retail channels.

While OnePlus has not yet announced the final price, market expectations suggest the Nord CE 6 could arrive under the ₹30,000 segment. This would position it slightly above the starting price of the previous generation Nord CE 5, which launched at ₹24,999.

The Nord CE 6 Lite is also expected to target value focused buyers looking for strong battery life and smooth display performance at a lower price point.

Premium AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate

One of the biggest highlights of the Nord CE 6 is its display. The phone is confirmed to feature a 6.78 inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate.

This combination should deliver sharp visuals, richer colours and smoother scrolling. A 144Hz refresh rate is especially attractive for mobile gamers and users who prefer fluid animations while browsing apps, social media and web pages.

OnePlus is offering the device in Fresh Blue, Lunar Pearl and Pitch Black colour options, giving users multiple style choices at launch.

Snapdragon chipset focused on gaming performance

Powering the Nord CE 6 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset. The processor is expected to deliver balanced performance for multitasking, gaming and daily use.

OnePlus says the handset supports up to 144 FPS gameplay in supported titles, showing clear focus on mobile gaming users. The device also includes Touch Reflex technology with a 3200Hz touch sampling rate, designed to improve responsiveness during fast paced gaming sessions.

To maintain stable performance under load, the smartphone will feature a large vapour chamber cooling system measuring over 33,000 mm. This should help control heat during long gaming sessions or heavy multitasking.

Major camera upgrades for photos and video

The Nord CE 6 is set to bring meaningful camera improvements. It will include a 50MP primary rear camera with dual axis Optical Image Stabilisation. This should help deliver sharper photos and steadier video capture, especially in lower light conditions.

The rear camera also supports 4K Ultra HD video recording, adding appeal for content creators and users who frequently record clips on their phones.

On the front, the phone gets a 32MP selfie camera with autofocus. This is a notable jump from the 16MP front camera on the earlier Nord CE 5. The upgrade could improve selfies, video calls and social media content quality.

Massive 8,000mAh battery could be key selling point

Battery capacity may become the headline feature of the Nord CE 6. OnePlus has confirmed an 8,000mAh battery, a size rarely seen in mainstream smartphones.

The company claims the device can deliver more than 2.5 days of use on a single charge, depending on usage patterns. If real world performance matches the claim, the phone could appeal strongly to travellers, gamers and users who prefer charging less often.

Charging support includes 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, allowing faster top ups when needed. The device also supports 27W wired reverse charging, which means it can charge accessories or even another smartphone using a cable.

OnePlus further says the battery can retain up to 80 percent health even after six years of usage, pointing to long term durability.

OxygenOS 16 with Android 16 and AI tools

The Nord CE 6 will ship with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16.

OnePlus is also adding several AI powered tools inside the gallery app, including AI Eraser, AI Unblur, AI Reflection Eraser and AI Portrait Glow. These features are designed to help users improve images without needing third party editing apps.

The growing focus on AI tools shows how smartphone brands are bringing software based upgrades into mid range devices, not just premium flagships.

Strong durability ratings and louder audio

OnePlus says the Nord CE 6 carries multiple protection ratings including IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K. It is also listed with MIL STD 810H certification.

While real world durability always depends on usage conditions, these ratings suggest stronger resistance to dust, water and rough handling than many rivals in the same segment.

For audio, the smartphone features dual speakers with support for up to 300 percent Ultra Volume, which could improve speaker output for calls, videos and gaming.

Nord CE 6 Lite also coming

Alongside the main model, the Nord CE 6 Lite has also been confirmed. It will feature the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, a 7,000mAh battery and a 144Hz display.

The Lite model is expected to offer up to two days of battery life and will be available in black and light green colour options.

Why this launch matters in India

India remains one of the most competitive smartphone markets in the world, especially in the ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 price segment. Buyers in this category now expect premium displays, reliable cameras, long battery life and clean software support.

With a 144Hz AMOLED screen, very large battery, gaming features and upgraded cameras, the Nord CE 6 appears positioned to compete aggressively against rivals from brands such as Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung and iQOO.

Final outlook

The OnePlus Nord CE 6 launch could become one of the most closely watched mid range smartphone releases of the season. If the final pricing remains below ₹30,000, the phone may attract strong attention from users looking for flagship style features at a more accessible cost.

With launch day now confirmed for May 7, all eyes are on whether OnePlus can convert its promising specifications into one of India’s standout value smartphones of 2026.
