The proposed Google AI Hub includes a one gigawatt campus spread across 600 acres along with a new international subsea gateway. According to Williams, the scale and strategic importance of the project highlight how technology, trade, and innovation are becoming central pillars of the modern US India relationship.

Landmark project signals new phase in bilateral cooperation

Addressing attendees at the ceremony in Visakhapatnam, Williams said the facility should be seen not only as major infrastructure investment but also as a practical example of how India and the United States are working together in critical sectors.

She noted that cooperation between the two democracies has expanded rapidly in recent years, particularly in areas such as advanced computing, semiconductors, digital infrastructure, research, and artificial intelligence. At the centre of that broader roadmap, she said, is the TRUST initiative, short for Transforming the Relationship Using Strategic Technology. AI Summit in Delhi highlighted expanding cooperation

Williams also recalled remarks made by US ambassador Sergio Gor during the AI Summit held in New Delhi, where he said the potential for India and the United States to work together is limitless.

That message reflects a wider shift in bilateral engagement. Artificial intelligence has become one of the fastest growing areas of cooperation between governments, academic institutions, and private industry. India offers scale, software talent, startup energy, and a growing domestic market, while the United States remains a leader in foundational AI research, advanced chips, and cloud infrastructure.

India joins PAX Silica Declaration

The consul general also pointed to India signing the PAX Silica Declaration earlier this year during the final day of the AI summit in Delhi.

By joining the declaration, India aligned with countries committed to building secure and resilient supply chains for silicon stack technologies. These include semiconductors, hardware systems, and the AI infrastructure required for next generation computing.

This development is especially significant at a time when nations are rethinking their dependence on concentrated manufacturing hubs and seeking diversified supply networks. Semiconductor access, cloud capacity, and trusted digital infrastructure are increasingly seen as strategic assets.

India’s participation signals its intent to play a larger role in advanced manufacturing and technology ecosystems.
