Amazon expands Future Engineer scholarships in India with 500 new awards for women in tech careers

Amazon has announced a major expansion of its Amazon Future Engineer program in India, adding 500 new scholarships for women pursuing engineering degrees from low income backgrounds. The move increases the total number of supported scholars to 2,200 and strengthens the company’s long term effort to improve access to technology education and careers for underserved communities.

The latest expansion comes at a time when India’s digital economy is creating growing demand for skilled talent in software development, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data science. Under the scholarship program, selected students receive financial assistance worth ₹2 lakh over four years while pursuing B.E. or B.Tech degrees in computer science and related disciplines. The scholarship is designed to reduce that pressure and help students stay focused on their studies.

The program is specifically aimed at female students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, a group that often faces multiple barriers in entering technical professions.
