Apple May Keep iPhone 18 Pro Pricing Stable

As attention shifts beyond the recently released iPhone 17e, fresh reports suggest Apple may keep pricing for its next flagship smartphones—the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max—largely unchanged when they launch later this year.

According to well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company may choose to maintain current price levels even as component costs across the technology industry continue to climb. In recent comments shared on social media, Kuo suggested Apple could absorb the rising costs of components rather than passing them on to customers.

This approach could allow Apple to remain competitive in the premium smartphone market while also encouraging more users to upgrade their devices.

Currently, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max begins at $1,199. If Apple sticks with the same pricing structure, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup would launch at similar price points, offering buyers stability in a market where many technology products are becoming more expensive.

Kuo noted that Apple’s broader strategy may involve taking advantage of volatility in the global memory market. Instead of raising retail prices, the company could secure long-term supply agreements for key components and absorb short-term cost increases.

By doing so, Apple may strengthen its position in the global smartphone market while continuing to grow its services business, which includes subscriptions, cloud storage, and digital content. A larger installed base of devices also supports Apple’s long-term push toward on-device artificial intelligence capabilities.

Another analyst, Jeff Pu of GF Securities, has offered a similar outlook. In a research note reported by several technology outlets, Pu said Apple is focusing on strong cost management to keep prices stable or close to current levels.

Part of this strategy reportedly involves negotiating favorable deals with memory suppliers such as Samsung and SK Hynix. These suppliers produce key components like DRAM and NAND storage chips that are essential for modern smartphones.

Apple is also said to be working on reducing costs in other areas of the device. Analysts believe the company could lower production expenses by optimizing the camera modules, display components, and internal hardware design of the upcoming models.

Holding prices steady would be particularly notable given the current state of the global semiconductor and memory markets.

Prices for DRAM and NAND memory chips have risen sharply in recent months. The increase has been largely driven by strong demand from companies building artificial intelligence data centers and server infrastructure. As technology firms invest heavily in AI systems, the demand for advanced memory components has surged across the electronics industry.

These rising costs are already affecting many consumer electronics manufacturers. Some companies have begun increasing prices on their latest devices. For example, Samsung recently raised the prices of its newest Galaxy S26 series smartphones, reflecting the growing pressure on hardware manufacturers.

In addition to pricing discussions, there are also reports suggesting Apple may adjust its iPhone launch schedule in the coming years.
